PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah man faces charges after police say he received a shipment of marijuana at his home near a school on Thursday.

Deante T. Brown, 20, of the 700 block of North 22nd Street in Paducah, was charged with trafficking in marijuana (more than eight ounces but less than five pounds) and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 yards of a school.

The Paducah Police Department Drug and Vice Enforcement Unit received a report that a shipment of marijuana was coming to a home in the 700 block of North 22nd Street.

Detectives waited for the shipment to be delivered, then obtained a search warrant for the home.

About noon Thursday, detectives issued the search warrant. They found about 2.5 pounds of marijuana in two packages, around $4000 in cash and digital scales inside the home.

Brown’s home is located about a block away from McNabb Elementary School.

Brown was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

DAVE detectives were assisted in the investigation by a local ATF agent and a K-9 officer.
