MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Officials with the city of Montgomery, Montgomery County Commission, the Industrial Development Board of the City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce are highlighting existing local businesses that have made significant capital investments in 2013.

Leaders gathered Friday morning for the fourth annual 'Success Starts Here' tour. This year, officials say the existing industries were responsible for creating 277 jobs and making more than $230 million in capital investments.

"It's exciting to see the growth and progress taking place in our community at the companies highlighted today and at all of the businesses that have expanded this year," said Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 Chairman Carl A. Barranco. "Existing industries are the backbone of our local economy..." he added.

The Montgomery Chamber of Commerce says 19 existing Montgomery area businesses have made expansions in 2013 includingL AEP Industries Inc., AKD Screenprinting & Embroidery, Alabama Power Co., Capital Veneer Works Inc., Contech Engineered Solutions, Hartzell Engine Technologies LLC, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama LLC, Lear Corp., MOBIS Alabama LLC, Montgomery Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), PHA Body Systems LLC, Publications Press Inc., Sabel Steel, Southeast Stamping Inc., Thermalex Inc., United Plastics Recycling Inc., US Foods Inc., Walker 360 and Wells Printing Co.

Friday's tour started at the Chamber of Commerce and ended with those in attendance boarding the Capital of Dreams bus to travel to the three companies showcased on this year's tour: Hartzell Engine Technologies LLC, MOBIS Alabama LLC and Thermalex Inc.
