CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The holidays are creeping closer, meaning one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Black Friday, is right around the corner.

Do you hunt the sales, or plan what you’re looking for?

Jenny Martin is in Cape Girardeau scoping out the Black Friday sales.

"Monsters University is what I'm going for and that's supposed to be $10 too, I mean that's a good deal," said Martin.

Martin said she’s looking for gifts for her kids, a son and daughter ages two and five.

The toy going for $10 on Black Friday usually runs between $20 and $70.

"I love the sales, I just don't love the fact that it's cutting into Thanksgiving ‘cause that's the day you spend with your family and you're thankful for them," said Martin.

Martin said while she’ll look at the ads on Thanksgiving Day, she’s sticking to shopping on Black Friday.

"I'm going to get up at six, seven in the morning and hope that I get what I want,” said Martin.

And she’s not the only one, Linda Singleton-Lock of Portageville said she doesn’t participate in Black Friday and never has. She said she prefers looking for gifts for her 3-year-old on Cyber Monday.

Matt Phillips in Poplar Bluff, said his family has shopped Black Friday for almost 30 years. They make a plan on Thanksgiving Day and hit the shopping in full force on Friday.

Some stores said they’re already prepping for the big shopping days. Walmart mangers said they’re getting in extra trailers to store and prep Black Friday merchandise. And Target reps are monitoring inventory to make sure they’re all stocked up.

"I have my daughter sit down and write the list out of what she wants," said Martin.

Even if it’s still two week away, Martin will continue to search for deals and prepare for Black Friday Holiday shopping.

You might have heard of some of the toys your kids want this holiday season, but do they really work? Are they worth it?
