Kickoff time set for 2013 Iron Bowl

Posted: Updated:
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The battle between the undefeated, back-to-back BCS National Champion and its fiercest rival now has a definitive kickoff time as both prepare to meet for the 2013 Iron Bowl.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers will meet on November 30 at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium where they'll put it all on the line starting at 2:30 p.m. CT.

The game, to be televised on CBS, will decide which team in the SEC West advances to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. The game, like each of the last five years, has national championship implications.

The Tide, currently ranked No. 1 in the BCS (10-0), faces the unranked, out-of-conference Chattanooga Mocs this week.

The Auburn Tigers, coming off a seven game stretch, get a bye week before facing its in-state rival for the 78th time. The Tigers, under first-year head coach Gus Malzahn, have turned around the program from a dismal 3-9 season in 2012 to a 10-1 season in 2013 that currently has them ranked No. 6 in the BCS.

The Crimson Tide currently leads the series 42-34-1.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
