CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Stores across the Heartland are preparing for the big crowds on Black Friday. Workers are taking extra precautions to make sure everything stays under control as people flood through the doors.

An executive team leader at Target said workers are getting prepared for anything to help make sure customers stay safe.

Kia Morrison, Target executive team leader, said they're putting extra measures in place such as line monitors. These workers will help make sure lines stay organized and everyone stays calm. Customers will also get store maps so they'll know exactly where to go when searching for items. Morrison said this helps customers find what they need more quickly.

Target employees say they have emergency plans in place all year around, but workers say just before Black Friday, everyone gets a refresher on how to keep customers safe in case of an emergency.

"We do a walk-through with just us, and then we take the entire crowd control team and do a walk through with them and make sure they know exactly where they're stationed, what their priorities are, where they'll go in case there is an emergency, which is very unlikely, but we have all of that pre-planned and then everybody has a store map with the specific people, where they will be located," Morrison said.

Morrison said one of the main things discussed during that walk-through is how to keep fire doors clear from the crowds.
