MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Some are calling it a Christmas miracle. A dog was reunited with her owner nearly two weeks after running away from a Montgomery car crash Nov. 26.

Kathleen Spivey was traveling from her home in Petal, MS to visit family in Savannah, GA for Thanksgiving when she was involved in the crash on Highway 80 and her vehicle was totaled.

No one was injured, but after the crash, Lucy jumped out of Spivey's arms and ran away. Spivey desperately looked for Lucy for a day and half.

Spivey came back a week after the crash and continued looking, but there was no sign of Lucy.

However, by then, word of the missing dog had spread on social media and by word of mouth and flyers in the community. In fact, more than 900 people shared a picture of Lucy on WSFA's Facebook page.

It was that help from complete strangers that ultimately led to Lucy being reunited with her family.

It turns out that four days after the car crash, Lucy ran up to a group of people at an Iron Bowl party and someone recognized her from a flyer at Winn-Dixie.

Monday afternoon, Spivey and Lucy were finally reunited.
