Man charged in Montgomery stabbing

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery police have charged a Montgomery man with second degree assault after a stabbing Friday night.

According to court documents, James Wright, 55, is accused of stabbing Darrell James, 46, three times in the chest with a 2" knife. The incident happened at 9 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Virginia Avenue. Authorities say the stabbing was the result of an altercation.

Wright was taken into custody at the scene.

James needed 30 stitches for his stab wounds. Police say the injuries are non-life-threatening.
