MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and his wife, Dianne, are opening the Governor's Mansion to the people so they can enjoy all the holiday decorations. The annual Candlelight Tours at the mansion will take place on the first three Monday nights in December, (12/2, 12/9 and 12/16) from 5 to 7 p.m.

The mansion, located on South Perry Street in Montgomery, features decorations by designers all across the state. The designers, who volunteer their time, are also responsible for the decorations on the Farley-Hill House next door which was purchased in 2003 and added to the Governor's Mansion complex. It will also be part of the tour.

Those who visit the mansion will be treated to the artwork of more than 500 children who decorated ornaments as part of their fourth-grade studies of Alabama history. They'll also be treated to the sounds of various choirs from around the state.

"The Governor's Mansion belongs to the people of Alabama and we want to share it with them during this wonderful season," said Mrs. Bentley.

Free tickets for the tours are available at the gift shop prior to the tours. The gift shop is located at 30 Finley Avenue across the street from the side entrance of the mansion.

The Governor's Mansion is a 1907 Colonial Revival house. It has been the official residence of Alabama governors since 1951.
