Collier, Holmes headed for runoff for AL House District 31

The votes are in and two candidates in the election Alabama House District 31 are headed for a runoff on Jan 24.

Four Republican candidates -- Frank Bertarelli, Jimmy Collier, Michael A. Griggs and Mike Holmes -- faced off in the primary special election Tuesday to fill the seat vacated by Barry Mask.

Collier and Holmes received the most votes with 979 and 1,370 respectively. Bertarelli received 638 votes and Griggs received 349.

District 31 covers parts of Elmore and Coosa counties.

For the first time, voters had real time access to the results. The Elmore County probate office posted the results online.
