Shot fired at town's water tower in Houston County

Posted: Updated:
TAYLOR, AL (WSFA) -

Residents in the town of Taylor in Houston County are being connected to the Dothan Water System while authorities make repairs to their water tower.

The damage comes after someone fired a shot at the water tower with what Mayor Larry Whiddon says appears to have been a rifle. The mayor doesn't think the shot was accidental.

The tower supplies service to about 600 people. No one has been named as a suspect in the case.

Mayor Whiddon says workers are trying to repair the damage and will start to fill the tower with water again later Wednesday. The tower should be back online by the weekend.
