Medical Examiner confirms body found is Jamisha Gilbert

Posted: Updated:
LYNCHBURG, VA (WWBT) -

The Roanoke Medical Examiner's office has confirmed that a body found in Lynchburg was missing woman Jamisha Gilbert.

Gilbert was last seen by Friends Friday and was reported missing Sunday. Her car was found wrecked on Concord Turnpike, but there was no sign of her. Her body was found on Concord Turnpike near Route 460 Wednesday morning.

The Medical Examiner positively identified the body Thursday morning, according to Lynchburg Police. They had set up a special tip hotline for the case, but shut it down after the body was discovered.

Authorities would not say exactly what the body was like when it was found and if anything else was located around it, in what's described as a heavily wooded area

Police are calling this a suspicious death investigation and they'll be back out to the scene Thursday looking for more clues.
