BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A toy drive is being held for the children of a woman shot to death after an Iron Bowl party in Hoover.

Michelle Shepherd, 36, died in a shooting last Saturday after a fight that police say started at an Iron Bowl party continued into the parking lot of an apartment complex.

A 28-year-old suspect, Adrian Brisky, has been arrested and charged with Shepherd's murder. Police say they did not know each other before attending the same party.

Michelle Shepherd's sister, Neketa Shepherd, described her older sister as a woman who loved and took care of her three children, two boys ages 8 and 4 and a 6-year-old girl.

"Even though I have my weak moments I know my weakest moment will come when they ask something about her and I can't bring her back to them," Shepherd said.

A group is organizing a toy drive to collect gifts for the kids for Christmas. Two of the children also have birthdays in December. The toy drive is being organized with the help of D-1 Training and Fitness, based in Homewood.

Information about the toy drive is being shared on an event called "A Post Iron Bowl Christmas for Cameron, Destiny, and Christian" on Facebook.

D-1 was approached by former UAB football player Byron D'Vinner to hold the toy drive. The goal is to have big party on December 14 at D-1 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the children. Donations can be dropped off at the D-1 location in Homewood.

"The competition involved in the Iron Bowl is fascinating but no football game is worth someone's life. It's definitely not worth children losing their mother," D-1 facility coordinator Stephen Madrid said.

"Like they say, it takes a village to raise a child. It's a chance for all of us to pull together and shower them with love and show we are behind them," he added.

The funeral arrangments for Michelle Shepherd have been finalized.

Her visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 6 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aubrey Bushelon Funeral Direction and Cremation Services in Birmingham. Her funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at Kirksey Mortuary Chapel in Birmingham.

We are probably all guilty of not being about to put down the phone. And with kids getting their hands on them younger and younger, it is raising the concern of the health risks.  A recent survey by common sense media found nearly half of parents worry that their child is addiction to their cell phone. Mom Jackie Collins often worries about the amount of time her kids are spending glued to their phone. For her teenage son, it's almost like a full time job. "50 hours tot...
