RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Dominion Virginia Power is making preparations ahead of Sunday's winter storm.

With the wintry mix expected, there could be a possibility of freezing wires and even falling tree limbs that can cause power outages. A spokesperson for Dominion says bucket trucks are already fully stocked and workers are on standby to be in place to help keep your lights on.

If your power does go out, officials say they will do their best to give you a good idea of when it will be back on, but they do ask for patience. Utility crews say if you see a downed power line during the storm, treat it as active and call 911.

If your power does go out, call Dominion at 1-866-DOM-HELP. The Department of Emergency Management encourages you to have supplies that could last you and your family at least three days.
