Graves Co. deputies respond to rollover crash

Posted: Updated:
GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Graves County Sheriff's deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover Saturday, December 7.

According to Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, while responding to another crash on KY 97 at Hamarket Corner at 7 a.m., deputies were told of a rollover in the 6000 block of KY 97.

They say Melvin Creel, 51, was driving northbound on KY 97 and entered a curve. The road was completely covered in and ice and deputies say the 1998 Jeep Cherokee slid off the west side of the road and hit an earth embankment. The Jeep then overturned in the ditch and the driver could not get out through the doors.

Deputies say Creel was freed by opening the back hatch door and crawling out.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind drivers that the roads are still very icy and travel should be limited unless completely necessary.
