2 people, livestock injured in crash

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Around 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, deputies responded to an injury crash near the intersection of John Puryear Rd and Husbands Road involving four people and livestock.

An investigation showed that Arol Sharpe, 21, of Paducah, and his passenger Braylynn Hendrix, 17, also of Paducah, were in a 2005 Chevrolet Cavolier Southbound on John Puryear.

Chester Pendergrast, 59, of Wingo, and his passenger Bettina Rickert, 44, of Wingo, were in a 1988 Chevrolet Pickup and trailer carrying livestock, and were crossing John Puryear, from Husbands, into Hodges' store.

According to witnesses, Pendergrast crossed over John Puryear crossing the path of Sharpe.

Sharpe attempted to stop, but was unable to and struck Pendergrast’s trailer causing it to flip.

Sharpe and Hendrix were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The livestock was transported to a local animal hospital for their injuries by McCracken County animal control. BA’s Towing assisted on scene with vehicle removal.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Mercy EMS and Reidland Fire Department.
