(KFVS) -

Fresh out of high school and now running her own business.

This Heartland girl is proving to her peers that there is no age restriction when it comes to being successful.

Most of us were still trying to figure things out at age 18.

What college to attend? What job to apply for? How much detergent to use?

However, Katelyn Bailey said she knows what her dream is and she's already well on her way to achieving it.

"It's a lot of time and prep that goes in to it. But at the end of the day it's nice that someone is enjoying what you created," she said.

And that's the icing on the cake, or cupcake, for Katelyn Bailey; who, at 18 is opening her own business: "Cupcakes by Katelyn."

"I'm excited to get it up and going. But I'm still nervous because I'm just starting out and getting use to the business," Katelyn said.

She got her first taste of success selling her cupcakes on Facebook.

The business grew so much, when it came time to choose between college, and a full ride scholarship or opening up shop, she says it was an easy decision for her.

It took a little time for mom and dad to jump on board.

"I was a little apprehensive, I must say about her not going to college, but I knew this was her passion and I knew that this was what she wanted to do, so we've been behind her one-hundred percent," said Brian Bailey, Katelyn's dad.

"I wanted to go into it full hearted and I decided to jump in to it and make my own business, and I can always go back and get my education later," Katelyn said.

It's sooner than later for cupcakes by Katelyn's grand opening.

With just a few finishing touches around the shop, and even more cupcakes to top, she said she's never been more ready.

"I ended up here because I found my passion, and my passion is baking and I followed my dream and found a job, it's something I love so it doesn't feel like work," she said.

Cupcakes by Katelyn will open its doors Saturday at 7 a.m.

She said it's not limited to just cupcakes, there will be plenty of desserts to choose from. She said she plans to go to school one day and major in business.
