OWEN COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -
A precautionary boil water advisory was issued Saturday for Kentucky American Water customers in the city of Owenton, Ky.

The advisory is a result of a weather-related break that occurred overnight on an iron pipe at West Seminary and Roland Avenue in Owenton.

Approximately 2,100 Kentucky American Water customers are affected.

During a boil water advisory, it is recommended that customers boil for three minutes any tap water they intend to use for consumption, such as for drinking, cooking or making ice. Customers should continue this practice for 36 hours from the time the boil water advisory is issued unless notified by Kentucky American Water to continue doing so.

Customers with questions regarding the boil water advisory should call Kentucky American Water’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-678-6301. The center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
