AOW: Orlando Bradford-December 18th

Posted: Updated:

The Calvary football team traveled down to the Superdome and came home with the programs first state championship.

The Cavs were led by running back, Orlando Bradford who has a quiet personality but has a loud presence on the field.

Under the bright lights of the Superdome, Calvary running back, Orlando Bradford shined as his team won the Division III state championship.  Bradford said "It was a great experience to make history. I was just going to give it all that I had."

Orlando rushed for 298 yards and four touchdowns during calvary's 62-7 win over Archbishop Hannan.  Even with his success, following the game, Orlando quickly gave the credit elsewhere.

"Our coach talked about staying on track and we were just focusing on staying on track and if we stayed on track it was going to be there because my offensive lineman told me it was going to be there so that's what we were focusing on and I just trust my offensive lineman."

John Bachman, Calvary's head coach, says "He didn't need big holes but he probably saw some but you'll saw what he does when he gets through the holes."

Orlando overcame a devastating injury last year to become the featured back for Calvary. "When I broke my foot my coach just said stay strong and believe in god and god will take care of it, so I just put my faith in him and asked him to help me overcome my injures," says Bradford.

He was named the most outstanding player during the Division-III title game. He says "I'd like to thank my family, God, and my coaches who have been great leaders for me."
