County DWI checkpoint leads to 40 charges, 9 arrests

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT)- A checkpoint hosted by the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office S.A.F.E. unit resulted in 40 charges and nine physical arrests being made.

According to Sergeant Jerry Brewer, the checkpoint involved multiple law enforcement agencies from the area as part of the NC Governor' Highway Safety Program.

The checking station was located at US Highway 17 North and the 8700 block Market Street on Saturday, December 21.

6-Seatbelt Violation
