BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man was stabbed in the neck on Christmas Eve after he allegedly attempted to attack a man with a candy cane lawn decoration, police said.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department the incident happened at a home located in the 200 block of E. Garfield Street. We're told the victim, a 37-year-old man, was involved in an altercation with a 26-year-old man.

The altercation became physical and the 37-year-old pulled the yard ornament from the ground and attempted to swing it at the other man. That's when the 26-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

The 37-year-old man was rushed to the hospital. He is expected to recover from his injury.

Police have not yet issued a warrant for the arrest of the 26-year-old man.
