SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -

A Middle Tennessee family is desperate for answers after a mysterious murder earlier this month.

Investigators are still trying to figure out why Jackie Warpoole Jr. was shot and killed along a busy stretch of westbound Interstate 24.

The 47-year-old from Smyrna was about to become a grandfather for the first time, but he never got to meet his granddaughter.

"We believe that he's in heaven holding her right now and he'll deliver her to us very soon," said his wife, Angela Warpoole.

He was found shot to death inside his silver Dodge Magnum the morning of Dec. 15.

Warpoole was a husband, a father and a beloved friend who was active in the Motocross community.

Family members say they have no idea why anyone would want him dead,  and are now offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

"We just want to know. You know, it's going to be hard, but I don't think we could go through anything worse than we already have," Angela Warpoole said.

There are still no suspects or a motive in his murder, which is why the grieving family decided to tell their story.

They are hoping someone out there can help get his killer off the streets.

"There's the question of stranger, somebody he knew. We just don't know the information right now," Angela Warpoole said.

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office wants anyone who has information about this case to give them a call.
