LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A dog hit by a vehicle and left for days in a ditch was one of two animals transported to Louisville Friday.

According to Arrow Fund volunteer Carrie Shoaf, the weimaraner lab mix, named Ocean, was rescued from a ditch in McLean County after laying there for three days.

Shoaf said after Ocean was rescued she was taken to a shelter in Daviess County before being transported to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital.

At the hospital Arrow Fund volunteer Rebecca Eaves said Ocean tested positive for heart worm and was unable to walk or stand due to two fractures in her pelvic region, which will require surgery.

"Every case that comes through is hard to see," said Eaves, "This one (Ocean's) is especially hard for me, or for many of us, because someone saw this animal struggling to stand, hit by a car, and no one did anything."

A kitten, named Larry, who was suffering from infections in both eyes was also transported with Ocean. Unfortunately, he did not survive through the night.

If you would like to donate to help with Ocean's medical expenses, visit www.thearrowfund.org or www.facebook.com/thearrowfund.
