LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Lexington County Sheriff's deputies on Monday arrested two men deputies saw performing illicit sexual acts at a public boat landing on the Saluda River, Sheriff James Metts said.

Stephen Lee Grissom, 38, of Lexington, and Edward A. Rose, 45, of St. Matthews, have been charged with violating a Lexington County ordinance that prohibits people from performing indecent sexual acts in public.

Deputies arrested the men during an undercover investigation conducted in response to complaints from citizens concerning people performing sexual acts at the boat landing located at 9 Radio Lane near Irmo, Metts said.

At about 9:34 a.m., a deputy, who was working undercover, saw Grissom and Rose walk together on a path at the boat landing, Metts said. The deputy later saw the two taking part in a sexual act, according to the sheriff. The deputy used his police radio to contact uniformed patrol deputies, who arrested Grissom and Rose.

Grissom and Rose were being held on Tuesday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.
