Golightly, Hampton won't start vs. Wisconsin

ORLANDO, FL (WIS) -

Two Gamecocks will not start the Capital One Bowl due to a violation of team rules, according to the South Carolina athletics department.

Athletics officials said spur Sharrod Golightly and cornerback Victor Hampton will sit out for an unspecified time because they broke a team rule.

Hampton is one of the leaders of the secondary and has been a big contributor to the young group. He's also been good for three interceptions this year.

Golightly, meanwhile, struggled at the beginning of the season, but has really emerged in the backfield over the last several games.

The Gamecocks kick off against the Wisconsin Badgers at 1 p.m. on ABC.
