LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Tanya Lynette Bradley, 32, of Longview has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for plotting to steal a newborn baby, either by killing a mother with a newborn or by cutting a fetus from an expectant mother.

On Tuesday, Bradley was sentenced to 12 years for aggravated kidnapping. She entered an open plea to the lesser charge of aggravated kidnapping on December 14. She could have received anywhere from five to 99 years in prison.

Bradley was arrested June 30, 2012 at the doctor's office where she was planning to abduct a pregnant woman, kill her, then steal her baby. She allegedly told her husband she was pregnant and faked doctor's visits for months. Police say friends of Bradley came forward after she bought knives, duct tape and gloves.

Bradley was originally charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder.
