BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A cat is being kicked out of her home, Home Depot that is. Depot the cat has lived at the home improvement store in Bluffton, SC for 13 years but now management says she has to go.

"I can't believe they let the cat live here for 13 years," said customer Marisa Page.

For some customers, it's shocking that the cat was not asked to leave before. For others, shopping at Home Depot wouldn't be the same.

"I think it's wonderful," said customer Nancy Bogenrief.

Employees say she's become a part of Home Depot, literally living inside the store for 13 years. She even greets them when they first open the doors in the morning.

Depot's favorite place to roam is the garden section, but her adventuresome personality has now caught up with her.

Home Depot officials say she's becoming a problem because she sets off the alarms at night and now she needs to find a new home.

"It is a store and you don't really want wild animals roaming around," said Page.

But other customers feel differently.

"Being an animal lover, I'd get rid of management before I'd get rid of the cat," said Bogenrief.

There is even a petition that was started online that has reached more 750 signatures. But according to Home Depot officials, they aren't kicking her to the curb until they find someone to adopt her.

"I hope someone finds a home for it," said customer Curtis Reid.

If you would like to adopt Depot, you can contact the Home Depot in Bluffton, SC:
