The Daviess County Detention Center is serving up a new dish to inmates who break the rules.

Daviess County Jailer, David Osborne wanted to discourage inmates from breaking the rules and having to be put in isolation. He says he heard about an Arizona sheriff who served a bland but nutritional loaf to inmates in isolation.

So he thought- could he use the nutraloaf to deter local inmates from acting out?

The loaf is made from beans, vegetables, powder milk, and all the calories and nutrition that is required for inmates.

Rule breakers in isolation are fed the nutraloaf for lunch and dinner. Some inmates who tried it say it doesn't taste very good.

"The taste is very bland, almost like cardboard and it just grows in your mouth. It has no seasoning," says Paul Watkins, a Daviess County Detention Center inmate.

Since the nutraloaf was introduced to the jail two weeks ago, jailer Osborne says there has been fewer inmates in isolation.
