Gamecocks baseball season begins with two open scrimmages

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

With football season squarely in the rearview mirror of most South Carolina fans, baseball season is just around the corner.

Team practice begins this weekend at Carolina Stadium and the Gamecocks will also hold two open scrimmages.

According to a release from the Athletics Department, those scrimmages will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

South Carolina's baseball season starts on Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. with a three-game series against Bucknell.

The Gamecocks look to put last season behind them as they were one game shy of entering the College World Series after losing to North Carolina.
