SELLERSBURG, IN (WAVE) - The town of Sellersburg, Indiana declared a state of emergency Tuesday night because of rapidly deteriorating weather conditions. 

Sellersburg Police Chief Russ Whelan issued the state of emergency after conferring with Public Works Director Ken Alexander.

"The roads right now are extremely hazardous and are expected to deteriorate further as this storm progresses," said Whelan. "Everyone is urged to stay home and keep the roads clear for road and emergency crews."


Whelan warned people who have to be on the roads to reduce their speed, increase their following distances and use extreme caution.
