It's been a long day and night for road crews in the Tri-State.

Road crews have been out in Vanderburgh County since around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon when the snow and sleet started to fall. Some are still out now, working to get the roadways clean.

While some main roads in the county are clear, not all are. Most side roads and subdivisions are still very slushy.

Crews are working eight to 12 hour shifts to cover all of their routes. The plow driver 14 News spoke with says his biggest concern is ice because it's hard to get rid of and not safe for anyone to drive on, even the snow plow drivers themselves.

"A lot of complaints from subdivisions but a lot of them are getting kind of impatient, but we can't be everywhere at one time when it snows like this. Our main concern is to get these main roads open so at least you can get to work, get to a hospital or get to a doctor if you have to," said Kirk Humphrey, a snow plow driver.

In Henderson, ice has started to cover roads, sidewalks and trees.

Some roads are slushy, but still very slick. There is a chance that could re-freeze as the night goes on and that could pose a problem for your morning commute.

Authorities ask that you not be out on the roads unless absolutely necessary.
