MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – "They all liked to smile," Watson family friend, Tracie Caskey said. "And that's how they'll be remembered, for their love and their laughter."

There were nine white caskets, pink and yellow roses for the girls and boys, red roses for their mother.

"My girls are awesome," Reverend Tim Burden recalled the children's mother saying. "My boys are rambunctious at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way.'"

"Wow, we certainly are going to miss each one," he said.

The mourners filled a high school auditorium in Muhlenberg County.

"When you lose someone tragically like this, let alone, nine someones tragically like this," Caskey explained, "You find out what your friends and neighbors are all about."

Their funeral came nine days after a fire ripped through their modest home. The children's father and an 11-year-old child survived. They are still fighting at a hospital in Nashville.

"Chad and Kylie are doing great," Burden announced. "They're watching," he told the crowd.

The large Watson bunch was well known in their small town near Greenville. But support has crossed state lines.

The children's grandfather gave thanks for the well wishes.

"This side of heaven many will never know what they have done for us," he said during a video message.

After the service, balloons were released. It was a solemn tribute for the children who were from 15 to just 4 years old.
