NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The suspect in a fatal shooting that happened in the parking lot of a south Nashville apartment complex last week has been taken into custody.

Metro police says 20-year-old Anthony Alexander was arrested by SWAT officers at 714 Due West Avenue at 7 a.m. Monday.

Detectives tracked Alexander down after receiving information that he was staying there.

Officers were called to the Bavaria Apartments in the 4500 block of Packard Drive on Thursday afternoon, which is when they found 24-year-old Tahj Brown with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Brown is believed to have met with Alexander inside a white Dodge Avenger in the parking lot for a drug deal. Brown was then allegedly shot and pushed out of the car, which fled the area.

Police say Alexander was convicted of felony aggravated assault last June for a gun crime and received a four-year probated sentence. Alexander was also served with a probation violation warrant Monday morning.

Alexander is being jailed without bond.
