Lyndsey York was five months pregnant in 2010 when she found out her little boy had something called Trisomy 18.

According to the National Institutes of Health, it's a genetic disorder in which a person has a third copy of material from chromosome 18 instead of the usual two copies.

The extra genetic material affects normal development and because of that, Carson Hoskins was stillborn.

Four years after his death, Carson still did not have a headstone.  Lyndsey and fiancé David Hoskins could not afford one.

Fast-forward to January 2014, when David saw a post on the 14 News Facebook page which asked fans how they would spend a lottery jackpot.

Hundreds of people dreamed about vacations, paying off mortgages and investing.

David Hoskins post read, "I would buy my son, Carson, the gravestone that he's needed.   Mommy and Daddy love you."

A small group of 14 News Facebook fans saw David's post, came up with a plan to purchase the stone, and let us in on the details.

Monumental Memories offered to donate the stone and the setting.

Nicole Stodghill of Monumental Memories, "Initially I thought… I just felt bad for them.  From a mother to a mother, hearing they lost a son in 2010. It's now 2014 and he doesn't have a stone.  That family deserves to have a stone for their son."

That night, 14 News Jackie Monroe arrived, unannounced, at the Hoskins' door and shared the news.

Lyndsey York couldn't believe it, "We've just been talking now how surreal it is that it's actually happening.  It's been a big burden on my heart that he isn't noticed there."

David Hoskins was surprised as well, "Something like this – it means a lot.  And it's something we haven't been able to do."

A few days later, a custom gravestone had been chosen and ordered.

For now, Carson Hoskins has a temporary marker made of the blue pearl stone his parents chose.

The permanent stone should be in place sometime in March or April.
