LSU junior Aaron Nola won his 20th game as a Tiger, firing six innings of scoreless four-hit baseball and two relievers finished off a 2-0 shutout of UNO Friday night in the 2014 season opener.
Nola struck out six Privateers, didn't walk anybody, but hit three batters in his season debut. Joe Broussard pitched two hitless innings of relief and Kurt McCune added a hitless ninth to secure the victory.
All-American shortstop Alex Bregman gave Nola all the support he would need with an RBI single in the third inning. JUCO transfer Kade Scivicque from Maurepas had the Tigers' other run batted in.
