(WMC-TV) - Police charged a man with first-degree murder Saturday in connection to the death of his fiancee.

Charles Pittman and Olivia Greenlee, both 21, attended Union University and lived off campus in Jackson, Tenn.

Greenlee was found dead in her car on the parking lot behind Luther Hall on the university's campus.

Evidence shows Pittman shot Greenlee as she sat in her car. He then staged the crime scene to give the appearance that she committed suicide, according to Jackson police.

Investigators arrested Pittman Friday after an interview. The judge may order no bond based on Pittman's charges, which also includes tampering with evidence.

"Reeling, staggering, speechless, grieving: These are words that describe us this week," said Union University vice president Todd Brady during a prayer service. "As we move into this weekend together, as we move into this semester together and as we move into the rest of our days, let us continue our turning to God and our turning to one another."

Dozens of students gathered in the service Friday to remember Greenlee, who was an active member in a sorority and a senior music major from Dyersburg, Tenn.

President David Dockery reminded students on the university's website that words motivated by hatred or judgment are not helpful to the case. The university will cooperate with police on the investigation.

Although rather than sharing hostile posts on social media toward Pittman, many students took to Twitter to show grief and share respect for Greenlee.
