Girl Scout sells cookies outside marijuana store

Posted: Updated:

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX/CBS) - A 13-year-old Girl Scout set up a cookie table outside a pot club this week and had no trouble getting rid of her inventory.

Holli Bert, spokesperson for the Green Cross medical marijuana dispensary, said the girl - named Danielle - set up a table outside the pot club Monday and was instantly successful.

"After 45 minutes, she had to call for reinforcement cookies, back-ups, and her mother was quoted as saying that she sold about 117 boxes in two hours," said Holli Bert, spokeswoman for the Green Cross medical marijuana dispensary.

Danielle's mother said by phone she didn't choose this location to make a statement. Rather, she sees cookie sales as an opportunity to show her daughter different areas of the city and expose her to a topic that can be difficult for mothers and daughters.

Green Cross posted Danielle's story on Reddit, and it has since gone viral. Many acknowledged Danielle's business savvy and understanding of supply and demand.
