Scott City teen dies from injuries in ATV wreck

SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) - Funeral arrangements have been made for a Scott City teen who died after an ATV crash.

Visitation for 17-year-old Dominic Michael Hooper will be Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Scott City High School. A funeral mass will be Thursday, Feb. 27 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be a St. Augustine Cemetery.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Dominic Hooper died on Sunday at a Cape Girardeau hospital.

More than 100 people gathered at the city park in Scott City at 8 p.m. Saturday for a prayer vigil.  Supporters signed posters, offering messages of support for Dominic Hooper.


According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Hooper was driving a 2006 Arctic Cat ATV Friday afternoon as it was being towed by another ATV on Scott County road 303, just north of Scott City.

Hooper's ATV hit the back of the other vehicle, became entangled in towline, and overturned in the roadway.

Hooper was ejected from the ATV, and taken to Saint Francis Medical Center with serious injuries.  

The other driver did not appear to have any injuries.
