(CBC News/CNN) - Tim Hortons, the Canadian coffee and doughnut chain, announced Tuesday that it will open at least 800 new restaurants over the next five years.
The expansion includes restaurants in Canada, the U.S. and the Persian Gulf.
Franchise consultant Douglas Fisher says there is huge potential for growth in the Middle East.
"The Middle East is dying for and developing as many North American concepts as they can," Fisher said. "New York Fries is there, South Street Burger is going there."
Tim Hortons is the largest fast-food chain in Canada with more than 3,500 locations.
