Cats found in Chesterfield school cafeteria

Posted: Updated:
CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield County Public Schools say two cats broke into a school cafeteria. The school had students eat somewhere else while it was professionally cleaned and the Health Department has given it a clean bill of health.

A Chesterfield County Public School spokesperson said in late January, two cats broke into the 9th grade campus cafeteria at Thomas Dale High School. He says parents were notified and 9th graders were transported to the main campus for lunch while the cafeteria was cleaned by ServPro. The Chesterfield Health Department Inspected the cafeteria last week and the report shows it earned a perfect score with no violations.

Next up, Mama's Kitchen at 946 West Grace Street in Richmond. It had an uncharacteristic 6 critical violations and 9 non-critical on its last health inspection. Among them, the report shows a spoon, ladle, sifter and knives were soiled to sight and touch. It wasn't open when we went by so we left a voicemail, but haven't heard back. The report shows violations were corrected during the inspection.

In Chesterfield, Shoney's at 12531 Jefferson Davis Highway had 6 critical violations. The inspector wrote that milk and chocolate milk were still in the fridge several days after their consume-by dates. That and other violations were corrected on the spot.
