Around 10,000 people are without power in North Mississippi as a result of the wintry weather. Meanwhile, road conditions are clear on the heavily traveled roadways, but the same cannot be said for county roads.

(WMC-TV) - Gold Strike Resort and Casino guests in Tunica closed their hotel early because of a power outage.

The casino and hotel are on an emergency generator power, which means there is no heat. With no guarantees when the power will be turned back on and the threat of dropping temperatures, the hotel is closing for the safety and security of guests and employees, according to a spokesperson Monday.

The hotel is working to find accommodations for patrons and will re-schedule reservations for those who had their stay interrupted.

Other resorts in Tunica are also affected by weather-related outages. You can read their status in the follow list.

— Hollywood Casino: They are affected by the power outage. There is no electricity, no hot water, and no power. According to customer service, they are accommodating current guests, but they are not taking future guests at this time.

— Sam's Town: The casino is open, but the hotel does not have any heat or hot water. According to customer service, it is up to the guests if they want to stay. They are taking future guest for Monday if they want to deal with conditions. Casino services are not affected.

— Fitz Tunica: The casino is opened, but the hotel is without power. Guests are allowed to stay, but they must sign a waiver. They are not taking future guests at this time.

— Resorts Casino Tunica: Power is on; they are taking reservations, but they are sold out of rooms for Monday night.

Judy Callies felt Gold Strike's move was wrong.

"Basically, they are shutting the hotel down and making us get out on the icy roads to fend for ourselves," she said.

Many of the gambling halls are running off backup or generator power.

Power crews continue to work on utility lines impacting all of the casinos; about 40 lines snapped because of the wind and ice. A spokesperson for Entergy hoped to have everyone's power restored by late Monday or Tuesday.
