Four local teams ready for next week's State Basketball Tournament in Jackson

The Pascagoula Panthers (24-6) enter the Class 5A State semifinals against Vicksburg March 10 at 2:30 in the afternoon on fire.  Coach Ronald Norman and his Panthers have run off 18 consecutive victories.

The defending Class 4A State Champion Bay High Lady Tigers (30-3) take aim on a repeat.  Coach Debbie Triplett has led Bay High to three state championship and has the talent to claim another beginning with a semifinal game against Gentry at 1:00 p.m. on March 11.

The Harrison Central Red Rebelettes (20-10) captured the Class 6A South State Championship thanks to a 63-55 overtime victory over Meridian on Saturday.

The Red Rebelettes will try bouncing Olive Branch from the title chase in a semifinal game March 12 at one in the afternoon.

The Gulfport Admirals under head coach Owen Miller have enjoyed plenty of success this season sailing under the win column 30 times in 33 games.

Gulfport dropped a 61-58 decision to Meridian in the Class 6A South State title game on Saturday.  That loss sends the Admirals against Madison Central in the state semifinals at 8:00 p.m. on March 12.

Madison Central beat Gulfport 54-50 on December 28 in the Gulfport Admirals Holiday Classic.
