New legislation could help Grand Tower levee

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Jackson County, Illinois residents are a step closer to seeing needed levee repairs.

According to a news release, Senate Bill 2721 would allow Jackson County to spend up to $1.7 million in bonding authority funds to repair the levee.

SB 2721 now moves to the House.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers estimates a flood along the are would affect from 2,500-3,000 lives.
