Metro student charged with bringing gun to school

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Metro high school student was arrested Monday after officers found a loaded handgun on school property.

The 17-year-old Hunters Lane High School junior told investigators he placed the gun in a friend's unlocked car in the school parking lot and did not intend to bring the gun to school.

Police say the teen told them he bought the .380 semi-automatic gun for status reasons.
