Driver injured after semi crash on U.S. 45

WAYNE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Illinois State Police responded to a crash on U.S. 45 at Wayne County Road 1800N (IL 161 Extension) on Monday, March 10 at 12:12 a.m.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of a 2013 Freightliner Truck Tractor, 44-year-old Brian A. Hunter of Lexington, Ky., was northbound on U.S. 45 when he failed to negotiate a curve at Wayne County Road 1800N (Cisne Curve). He left the east-side of the road and overturned.

Hunter was taken to a Fairfield, Illinois hospital by ambulance for treatment of injuries from the crash. ISP said he was wearing his seat belt.

He was cited for improper lane usage.

According to police, both the truck tractor and the 2009 Wabash semi trailer had major damage and were removed from the scene by a towing company.

ISP District 19 was assisted at the scene by the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, North Wayne Ambulance Service and Cisne Fire Department.
