JULIA'S FORECAST: Windy today & frigid tonight

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

**WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT 7am-5pm***

We're turning our eye to a weather system that will be passing through early on today: a cold front. A few showers are possible through the morning commute, although they will likely be few and far between. In fact, our skies should clear out by afternoon, allowing for sunshine. The bigger issue from this front will be the increasing winds.

Northwest winds today will be sustained at 15-30mph with higher gusts possible. This could take down some small branches of trees, and will make driving difficult for anyone in an SUV or a truck.

These winds will carry in cooler air, and we're going to have a tough time warming as a result. Our temperatures will likely hold steady or even fall at times, meaning much of the day will be spent in the mid to upper 50s. Adding in the wind chill factor, it may feel more like low 50s.

Winds relax a bit tonight, and with the clear skies we will be in a good set up for cooling. Many could come close to freezing, so it's advisable to bring sensitive plants and pets indoors during the overnight.

We're cool again on Thursday, but sunnier and calmer.
