CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says windy and warm conditions are in store Wednesday with several rounds of showers expected as a front rolls through the Carolinas.

Afternoon thunderstorms are possible as well, but most locations likely won't pick up too much rain.

Strong winds are expected as well on Wednesday, particularly in the mountains, where gusts could top out near 60 miles per hour, Conklin says.

Even in the foothills and Piedmont, gusts to 40 miles per hour are possible.

This will be last day of unseasonably warm weather this week with the high in the low to mid 70s, followed by colder 40s Thursday.

As the colder air blasts in Wednesday night, snow showers are likely to break out across the mountains, where 2-3 inches may accumulate on the ridge tops.

We'll be back up near 60 degrees for Friday and into the 60s for the weekend.
