LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A public transportation bus ride turned violent early Sunday morning.

A man stabbed two teens on a TARC bus near 28th and West Broadway in the Parkland neighborhood of Louisville, according to LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.

Anthony Rene Allen, 44, is accused of stabbing a 13-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy. Both teens were transported to the hospital. The boy is in "grave condition," Smiley said.

Allen is accused of running away from the scene. Detectives tracked him down about a half mile from the scene of the stabbing, near 24th and Maple.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and tampering with physical evidence.

At least three witnesses were on the bus and have been questioned by police.

TARC Executive Director Barry Barker released the following statement regarding the incident:

"TARC is deeply disturbed and saddened by what has happened. Safety of our passengers and operators has been, and always will be, our number one priority. We are working with police in the investigation into this horrible crime. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and to others impacted by this tragedy."

Homicide detectives continue to investigate the incident. Smiley said the Homicide Unit is handling it because of the critical nature of the boy's injuries.
