WILMINTON, NC (WECT) - The SABLE helicopter will soon be traveling without causing as much of a disturbance.

Wilmington City Council approved a nearly $40,000 purchase Tuesday that will give the SABLE helicopter new tail blades.

According to Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous, the blades will reduce the noise signatures by 40%.

"We try to stay as high as we possibly can to reduce that noise issue, but these new tail rotor blades should make a markedly reduced noise signature," Evangelous said.
