Virginia Beach student that faced expulsion for razor incident will return to school Friday

A Virginia Beach sixth grader who says she was just trying to help a fellow student will return to school Friday after she was initially suspended and faced expulsion.

According to WAVY, Adrionna Harris said she took a razor blade away from a classmate who was trying to harm himself. She then threw the blade away.

Instead of getting praise, she was promptly suspended for 10 days - with a recommendation for expulsion.

Adrionna says, knowing what she does now, she would still do it all over again.

"Even if I got in trouble, it didn't matter, because I was helping him. I'd be ok," said Adrionna.

Virginia Beach City Schools has a zero-tolerance policy for possessing weapons for any length of time. The school held a hearing Thursday to discuss the expulsion - at the start of the meeting, the board said Adrionna would not be expelled, but she was still suspended.

The family says they received a call from the principal later that afternoon, who said Adrionna could return to school Friday.
