EUCLID, OH (WOIO) -

The elements can wreak havoc and cause accidents at any given moment. Family and friends gathered Saturday, March 29 near the freeway that claimed the life of Courtney Hogue. The young woman hit a patch of black ice on February 1, 2014.

Those that knew her comforted each other and promised to keep her memory alive.

Judy Martin of Survivors and Victims of Tragedy told 19 Action News the purpose of the vigil was to spread the message that bad weather can take anyone's life and to be extra cautious when driving when conditions are less than ideal.

Hogue was just 24-years-old. The accident happened near 27801 Euclid Avenue.
